Good Maintenance Practices:

  • Replace seals, for applicable designs, when doing a bearing replacement
  • Use recommended tool to remove and install the seals or damage and leaking may occur
  • Use recommended grease or differential fluid to keep the bearing properly lubricated
  • If the vehicle has an ABS, traction control or stability control light, try cleaning the magnetic encoder on the bearing before replacing the bearing assembly

Signs of wear for wheel seals include but are not limited to:

  • Grease is leaking from the bearings
  • Visible damage to the wheel seal
  • Noises coming from the tires and wheels or bearings
