These components are a part of your hands free system such as Bluetooth or OnStar, per vehicle application. These systems listen to verbal commands and then help execute them. If a vehicle is equipped with an OnStar module (UE1), the microphones are wired directly to said module. With vehicles not equipped with OnStar, these microphones are routed directly to the radio.
