Before purchasing and installing an engine core plug, make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle.
- Use recommended coolant to prevent corrosion.
- Keep fluid levels full.
- Keep coolant tested to help prevent freezing in frigid temperatures.
- Be sure to always have antifreeze inside the cooling system to help prevent expansion plugs from rusting.
- Regularly inspect engine core plug for signs of damage or wear and replace them if signs of damage are found.
Signs of wear for engine core plugs include but are not limited to:
- Low coolant level Engine overheating
- Wet spots under engine
- Coolant leaks
- Cracked engine block
