Good Maintenance Practices:
- Before purchasing and installing an automatic transmission wiring harness, make sure it is the correct size and fit for your vehicle.
- Keep wire harness secure and free from contact wear.
- Keep harness connecting plugs free from dirt and debris.
- Regularly inspect wiring harness for signs of damage or wear, and replace it if signs of damage are found.
Signs of wear for automatic transmission wiring harness include but are not limited to:
- Broken or spliced wires
- Decrease in voltage
- Breaks or cracks in insulation jacket or outer coating of the wires
- Lack of communication between vehicle control units and transmission
- Vehicle not moving or engaging gears
- Illuminated Check Engine Light
