Before the purchase and installation of an airbag passenger presence module, make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle.
- Due to the critical nature of the design of air bag systems, GM does not support the use of any used, salvaged, or imitation parts for repair. Only new, genuine GM warranted parts should be used in repair.
- Do not allow small children to sit in the passenger front of the vehicle due to potential injury from the airbag restraint system.
- Have the airbag passenger presence module inspected by a certified technician after all collisions.
- Regularly inspect airbag passenger presence modules for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found.
- Refer to your Vehicle Owner’s manual for additional vehicle maintenance practices.
Signs of wear or damage for airbag passenger presence modules include but are not limited to:
- Airbag malfunction lamp illuminated
- Passenger air bag activated with seat empty
