Good Maintenance Practices:
- Before purchasing and installing a manual transmission assembly, make sure it is the correct size and fit for your vehicle.
- Keep transmission fluid levels full.
- Always start a vehicle from a standstill in first gear.
- Do not change gears without engaging clutch.
- Do not skip gears when shifting.
- Regularly inspect manual transmission assemblies for signs of damage or failure, and replace them if signs of damage or failure are found.
Service manual transmission assemblies when signs of wear or failure are displayed, including but not limited to:
- Transmission makes noise while shifting gears
- Transmission difficult to shift
- Noise from drivetrain during normal driving
- Fluid leaks from transmission
