Good Maintenance Practices:
- Before purchasing and installing an automatic transmission assembly make sure it is the correct size and fit for your vehicle.
- Keep transmission fluid levels full.
- Flush transmission cooler and change filter when recommended.
- Ensure that all drivetrain components are in good shape.
- Ensure all driveline angles remain correct.
- Do not continue to operate vehicle with any undiagnosed vibrations.
- Regularly inspect assemblies for signs of damage or failure, and replace them if signs of damage or failure are found.
Service automatic transmission assemblies when signs of wear or failure are displayed, including but not limited to:
- Transmission slippage
- Unusual sounds from transmission area
- Transmission fluid puddling
- Transmission hesitates when shifting
- Transmission slipping into neutral when in a particular gear range
- Transmission fluid becoming very dark in color and/or smelling burnt
- Rough clunks when gear engages
