Good Maintenance Practices:
- Before purchasing and installing a windshield wiper blade, make sure it is the correct size and fit for your vehicle.
- Do not turn wipers on if they are frozen to the windshield.
- Clear all debris from wiper arm before operation.
- Regularly inspect blades for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found.
Signs of wear for windshield wiper blade include but are not limited to:
- Streaking, caused by worn wiper blades, starts to occur on the windshield
- Chattering or skipping windshield wiper blade, caused by the permanent set or curve in the rubber of old blades
- Worn rubber on the wiper blade, caused by extended use
- Cracked or split rubber on the windshield wiper blade, caused by prolonged exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays
- Bent or broken wiper blade frame, caused by the use of ice scrapers or automatic car washes
- Squeaking windshield wiper blade
