Good Maintenance Practices:
- Before purchasing and installing a serpentine belt, make sure it is the correct fit for your vehicle
- Check belt for cracks or tears
- Check all accessory drive pulleys for proper alignment and/or damage
- Check for belt slipping
- Regularly inspect the serpentine belts for signs of damage or wear, and replace them if signs of damage are found
Signs of wear serpentine belts include but are not limited to:
- Belt squeal from slipping
- Reduced engine power
- Reduced power steering assist
- Engine overheating
