About this product

ACDelco GM Original Equipment Cooling System Leak Sealants are designed, engineered, and tested to rigorous standards, and are backed by General Motors. These sealants are a one-component, room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. They are a high viscosity engine sealant that cures when exposed to air. The cured material has adhesion and elongation properties and is designed to be effective even on large gaps. These leak sealants are designed to be resistant to engine oils and coolants, not to corrode metals, and to be blow-out resistant. These engine sealants are also designed to be oxygen sensor safe and come in a tube for easy, accurate application.ACDelco GM Original Equipment parts are the true OE parts installed during the production of or validated by General Motors for GM vehicles. Some ACDelco GM Original Equipment parts may have formerly appeared as GM Genuine Parts (OE) or ACDelco Professional.

Engine sealants are able to fix some engine leaks, but it is important to check on the size and nature of the leaks before use. If leaks are large and fluids are pouring out of the vehicle, more significant engine repair is likely required. Attempting to fix a major leak with engine sealant could lead to contamination of other fluid reservoirs and end up causing major damage to the vehicle.

Carefully follow the directions for engine sealant application, as improper use can also cause significant harm to the engine.
Consulting a technician is a great way to determine if the leak is too large for engine sealant and to ensure the proper application of these products.
For application of these products: Surface should be free of residual fluids such as oil and coolant, as well as detergent residuals. Joints should be closed within 20 minutes of sealant application. Final tightening should be done within one hour of sealant application and joint closure.
